Color inspiration #36- three ways

January 1st, 2009

Hey all!

Today being New Year’s Day seemed like a good time to spend most of the day in my pajamas creating some cards for Kristina Werner’s color Inspiration challenge.

First off, here’s the photo we were given for inspiration. The colors were Rose Red, Pretty In Pink, Old Olive, and Whisper White.

It was kind of strange, because, while I love these colors (pink is one of my favorite), I struggled to really “feel” it for some reason. Sometimes it just comes to me and other times I have to work for it. This is one of the times I had to work for it.

With that being said, I did go ahead and make not one, but three cards with this color combo. I did not set out to make three cards. I just kind of kept going with it, and when I finished I realized I had made one simple, fairly easy card, one intermediate card, and one more difficult card. So I guess you can take whichever one suits your stamping style better.

First, the more advanced card:

I am not one to do a lot of watercoloring, but this stamp set was one that was given to me by Stampin’ Up! that I hadn’t used yet. I don’t normally go for this type of stamp set and contemplated giving it away, but decided to keep it to help myself break out of my box a bit.

And the intermediate card. This kind of card is my favorite. It’s still fairly simple and easy to make, but is a little more complex and has a few more fun details than the simple cards.

Of course, another reason this is my favorite is that this one has some bling. Love that!

And then here’s the simple card.

One layer, some dry embossing, and a little wash of color on the flower petals.

There ya have it! One inspiration challenge- three different ways.

I’m off to do a bit more organizing of my craft space and hopefully get a little more time to stamp a bit.
