Chipboard Coaster Post-it Note Holder

This free-standing Post-it note holder is one of five projects we'll be making in my February Chipboard Coaster classes. For more information, click the link on the right for my schedule!

This project uses two chipboard coasters.
I ordered 4" heavyweight coasters from a supplier. Don't have any? There are some restaurants and bars that just leave coasters on the tables... or so I've been told! Chili's and Outback are especially careless.

The coaster that will be on the back needs to be cut with a hobby blade. Cut along the two solid lines:

Hold a ruler or other straight-edge along the dotted line.
Place your fingers under the wedge you have cut and lift up, creating a score/crease on the dotted line. You now have the easel back for your holder!
Rounding the corner of the easel helped mine to stand better. Craft & Rubber Scissors cut chipboard beautifully!
Adhere patterned paper to the other coaster with a glue stick.
Turn the coaster over and round the edges of the patterned paper by trimming with Paper Snips. It's easier to see where to cut when it is turned over.
Front and back pieces:
Apply Sticky Strip to the back piece as shown:

Adhere front and back pieces.
Adhere Post-it note pad to front of holder with Sticky Strip.
If you'd like to ink the edges of the holder, you can sponge it on or apply it DTP, Direct-To-Paper, as shown:

Embellish your holder.
This one is a gift for my Valentine so I avoided ribbons but I couldn't leave it "naked."
Twill tape and hemp twine make great masculine embellishments!
Punch two holes in the upper right corner of the holder with a Crop-o-dile.
Thread 3/8" twill tape through and tie in a square knot on the front. Fray the ends.
Tie one end of hemp twine to the twill tape.
Thread the other end of the twine through the hole punched in the "Friend" tag, knot that end.

The side view:

The colors in Spring Showers & Spring Flowers Designer Papers work well if you have yellow Post-it notes.
I love working with these Spring products! The stamp set, the punch and two designer papers all match perfectly! And the Spring Showers paper is great for masculine cards and gifts. A few flowers are acceptable when the colors are blues and browns!
Supplies used:
Sahara Sand & Bashful Blue Cardstock
Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
