|
|
Those cute shoes can be used for many purposes: to put money in, tiny surprises, to hang in the Christmas tree, as an accent in a baby room, to give something at baby showers, births, weddings, little girls’s birthdays (or even older girls!)… And most of all they are really fun and easy to make! The girl’s shoe is very easy to create, while the boy’s will ask you a little more time.
I have to give credit to Stampington (Summerset Studio magazine, September 2002) and their assistant editor Mona Gettmann for this wonderfully cute idea and template… I created the boy’s shoe template myself, using the first pattern as a starting point.
===============================
To create the shoes, you’ll need (finished piece is 8 cm long):
The provided templates:
www.lovebugscrapbooking.com/crops/shoe_template_girl2.pdf
www.lovebugscrapbooking.com/crops/shoe_template_boy.pdf
- 1 piece of cardstock (black or brown, or any color you may like or have), 5.5X7” (14X18cm)
For girl’s shoe:
- 1 tiny buckle (about 1cm, 3/8”) or gem or charm or nailhead or button or bow
- Anything you’d like to decorate (stamps, ink and embossing powder, paint, coordinating pattern paper, gel pen, dimensional paint, tiny flowers)
- tiny glue dots (and/or high adherence glue, like the Tombo Mono one)
For boy’s shoe:
- 50 cm (20”) coordinating fiber or narrow ribbon (5mm, Ľ” or less)
- 2 pieces of coordinating pattern paper (one is 4X5cm, 1.5X2”, and the other is 3,5X9cm, 1 Ľ”X 3.5”)
- 1 tiny charm (optional)
- 1 anywhere hole punch
- tiny glue dots (and/or high adherence glue, like the Tombo Mono one)
===================================
To create the girl’s shoe:
Use the provided template (it’s a PDF file, you can print it as is and you’ll get the pattern the right size). The finished product will be 8cm long.
Trace the two pieces on your piece of cardstock. Don’t forget to mark down the dots so you get a good match when assembling the pieces.
Cut out.
Decorate the front of the shoe to your fancy (I used a Making Memory foam stamp and embossed the design with gold powder). I also decorated the tie with another stamped pattern.
Fold each tab under the shoe piece. Place a glue dot on the two dotted tabs and glue them to the bottom piece of the shoe. Then add glue dots or tacky glue (it has to be fast bonding if you want this step to be easy, a glue stick won’t work well) to the remaining tabs and glue them to the bottom piece, following its curves.
Add glue to the side tab (written “glue”) and adhere it to the other end of the shoe (they should meet by then!).
Place a glue dot under the end of the tie (where the dot is), fold the tie to the other side and adhere in place. Add the embellishment you chose as the buckle.
Your tiny shoe is complete!

To create the boy’s shoe:
Use the provided template (it’s a PDF file, you can print it as is and you’ll get the pattern the right size). The finished product will be 8cm long.
Trace the two pieces on your piece of cardstock. Don’t forget to mark down the dots so you get a good match when assembling the pieces. You’ll also have to mark the lacing holes and the front “opening”.
Cut out.
Cut out the two pieces of pattern paper, and if you want the tongue made out of pattern paper (as I did), cut out this piece as well (and leave the cardstock one).
Glue the larger piece of paper to the front of the shoe, and the smaller one to the back, using the dotted tabs as a mark for the center/front and center/back (so glue the paper so that it is even on each side of the dots). It is preferable if the paper goes over the tabs, too, so you won’t see the edges when it is completed. Cut out the excess.
Glue the tongue into place, using the dots on the template as a guide.
Punch the six holes with an anywhere hole punch. Pass fibers or narrow ribbon through them so it looks like the shoe is tied (I added a heart charm to the bow so the shoe has an extra embellishment). By then, your shoe should look like this:
Fold each tab under the shoe piece. Place a glue dot on the two dotted tabs and glue them to the bottom piece of the shoe. Then add glue dots or tacky glue (it has to be fast bonding if you want this step to be easy, a glue stick won’t work well) to the remaining tabs and glue them to the bottom piece, following its curves.
Add glue under the side tab (written “glue under”) and adhere it to the other end of the shoe (they should meet by then!).
Your tiny shoe is complete!
Supplies used:
Cardstock (black and brown)
Foof-a-la pattern paper
Making Memories foam stamps
Embossing ink and powder
Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo)
Fibers
Charm
Bow nailhead
Anywhere hole punch _________________ Sophie

Sophie, I showed these to several girls and they were a huge hit.
After I checked with you, I gave the template to one of my friends and she made 48 (yes 48!) of them for a baby shower she was throwing!
So adorable! _________________ ******************************

Baby shower gifts...what a great idea! Maybe they can hold some little candies or something. I'll have to remember that when my SIL has a baby
Thanks for the project, Sophie! _________________

I think she e-mailed me the photo, let me take a look!
She used them to hold the invitations and then she got them to bring them to the shower and they used them for decorations as well. _________________ ******************************

I was going to make these as thank you's for our shower gifts, but after I figured out how many I was going to need (83) I decided against it.
My GF is having a baby soon though; and I'm planning on having these are the favors at her shower. I'll only need to make about 12 or 13, so I'm going to make enough in blue and pink so it doesn't matter what she has. _________________ ~Rachel~

Awwww, Kat, you so sweet! Since I didn't bookmarked the site, I can't remember which one it was, though... and I can't find it just by googling again (did find one link posted by a certain "Kat", though!
http://www.scrapbookfaves.com/Scrapbook-Tutorials/Tiny-Paper-Shoes-1/
I also found this one:

But then I can't find this particular one I'm talking about...
Wow, my project is all over the internet! I'm a celebrity! But most important, it brings people here to Lovebug, which delights me! _________________ Sophie
