as taught by Lovebug Stephanie.
SUPPLIES LIST
One med sized piece of chipboard
Metallic paint (Stephanie used gold for my example)
white craft/school glue
Candle
Matches (yup we are going to play with fire )
Paper Towel/napkin
Sealer (could be any of the following-Varnish, spray sealer, clear nail polish, Glimmer mist)
STEP 1
Paint your chipboard with a metallic paint of your choice being sure to give it a nice thick coat. In my example I used a gold dauber and applied two coats. To expedite the drying process I used my heat gun, for those of you without a heat gun try your hair dryer!
If you do not have metallic paint blue or a teal green will also look great!
STEP 2
Once your paint has dried cover your chipboard with your white glue.
Spread a nice even coat over the top of chipboard piece. Not too thick just a nice even coat. Do not let the glue dry! We have to work with it wet
STEP 3
Here we go with my favorite step the fire round
Here is the fun part......light your candle and while the glue is still wet hold the chipboard piece with the wet glue coating over the candle. Don’t worry it is going to smoke a little and turn black. Ideally the glue should blister and break. Blow out the candle.
You will want the glue to turn black from the flame...watch out for fingers and eyebrows! Ha! Ha!
STEP 4
Now you have a piece of chipboard covered in soot right?
Take your paper towel and begin to wipe the soot off of the chipboard. What you will notice is that the paint is beginning to show through. Wipe off as much as the “black” as desired. If you wish you can moisten the paper towel a little!
Voila!!! You have a piece of chipboard that resembles an antique metal!
