Consider the use of patch scrapbooking if you're after great results.

One of the most important things when scrapbooking is to get the desired effect you're after for each page.

You want your scrapbook to be more than just an elaborate photo album with just a little extra added detail, so take time to consider how to add more depth and interest to each and every page.

I tend to use patch scrapbooking techniques. This is because I used to be a Teaching assistant and often had to put displays of childrens work up onto boards around the school.

Essays, drawings, poems etc on their own used to look a little lost just stuck up or pinned onto a large expanse of coloured card. That is when I decided to be creative and make more of each piece of work. This is called patching.

Basically to make a photo, ticket or invite stand out, just use a contrasting coloured piece of card to your background page. Then place the photo or whatever on top of that. You instantly have a framed photo as the contrasting coloured card draws the eye and depending on the color of card you use, you've also added depth or brightness to a subject matter.

That's basic patch scrapbooking, but really the sky's the limit with this technique.

Why not use many different coloured pieces of card, each one smaller than the one before to build perspective or make the focal point of the page stand out more than other items.

You don't have to just use card either.

If it's a wedding use some wrapping paper behind a photo or place card. If it's a seasonal scrapbook use a pressed flower or leaf to frame an item.

The list of ideas is endless once you have the mindset of adding frames, depth and color to your scrapbook entries.

Patch scrapbooking is easy to do & really effective.
