How to Choose Photos For Your Scrapbook Layouts

I remember when I was first shown the amazing pieces of art that could be created with digital scrapbooking.

My mind was going at about a million miles an hour trying to figure which photos I should scrapbook first, and whether there were any 'rules' I should know about to get the results I wanted to achieve!

If that's happening to you, here's some information that can help...

Don't try to put too many photos on a single scrapbook layout.

I know it's tempting to want to put the maximum number of photos you can fit into your layout, especially when you have 273 digital photos of your first-born's birthday party sitting in your camera. Look for the one special photo that sums up the moment for you and make that your focal photo. If you still want to include other photos then resize or crop them so that they form more of a supporting accent to your focal photo. Digital scrapbooking makes resizing and cropping a breeze.

You can then build your layout around your main photo, making sure you leave some room for a title and some journaling, even if it's only who, when and where.

If you really find it impossible to select only 3-4 then consider doing two layouts in the same theme so that they compliment each other.

Remember, less can often be more. One photo, in pride of place on your layout can convey all that you want to say and to remember about your special moment.
