as taught by Lovebug Stephanie.
SUPPLIES LIST
8 1/2 x 11 cardstock/ cardstock weight patterned paper
bone folder/scorer or something that will give a nice crease
misc embellies to match your pp or cs
stamps etc if desired
decorative edge scissors
1/8 or 1/4" hole punch
coordinating ribbon - 6 - 10" or so
STEP 1
Position your 8.5 x 11 cardstock lengthwise on your paper trimmer. Using your scoring blade (if you have one ...I used the rubon tool that came with my AC rubons to score my paper) score the cardstock at the following intervals 2 inch, 5inch, 7inch, and 10 inch. I will trace my lines with pencil just for illustration purposes, you do not need to do this!
Your cardstock should have score lines like the following photo
STEP 2
Next rotate the cardstock, and then score at the 2 inch interval and 7 inch interval.
Your cardstock scores should look like the image above. Again you do not need to actually trace the score lines, I just wanted to make the lines more apparent!
STEP 3
Next you will need to trim the cardstock using your scissors or you may be really good with the paper trimmer Hold your cardstock as pictured with the 2" section at the top. I have indicated in my photo which sections to cut out! Cut off all but one of the 2 inch sections from the top of the cardstock. This will be the flap closure for your gift box.
Next make vertical cuts along the bottom of the cardstock to create the flaps to form the bottom of your box and cut off the narrow piece. This will be the bottom of the box.
Next cut the narrow piece on the side of the cardstock to create your tab for adhesive.
The end result should look like this
STEP 4
During this step you can stamp your cardstock if desired. In my example I stamped a border around the cardstock lengthwise with Versamark ink and then added brown embossing powder. Used the heat gun to set and voila!
STEP 5
Use a straight edge or bone folder to sharply crease all scored lines to shape the box.
Next we apply adhesive to the tabbed portion of the cardstock and fold the paper to form the shape of a box! Let the adhesive dry.
STEP 6
For those of you who have used a liquid form of adhesive you may want to let the box dry a little so it will become more durable.
While we are waiting for your glue to dry why not complete the embellishment that will be attached to the front of the box? In my example I stamped the image using versamark ink, added embossing power and heated the image. I then cut out the image and affixed it to a piece of brown cardstock and again cut a circle. I added a prima flower and a piece of bling to my embellishment! You can create your embellishment any way you wish!! Go ahead and get creative!!!!!!!!
STEP 7
Now lets work on the bottom of the box!
First fold the small flaps near the bottom toward the centre of the box
Then fold the large flaps over small flaps, and glue the flaps in place!
STEP 8
Next pinch together the back and front of the box to make a crease. Repeat for the other side!
Step 9
Using decorative scissors trim along the 2 inch flap to create a nice edge on the box flap. If you do not have decorative scissors try using a template to create pretty finish!
Using your hole punch, punch two holes in your box flap.
Next pull down your flap to close the box, and use your pen to mark where holes were punched.
Use your hole punch to punch holes at the markings.
STEP 10
Take your ribbon and thread the ribbon through holes on the box! Center it and pull it through the holes on the box flap.
Tie a bow and tighten!
STEP 11
The final step is to add your embellishment to your box! I added pop dots to my box for the added dimension! And there you have it! A simple little box that can be used as a gift box or for party favours for any occasion!
