Crayons are acid-free. The main ingredient used in most crayons is beeswax or paraffin wax. The only downfall to using crayons is that because of the wax the color may fade or rub off onto your page protectors.
Pastels meaning oil-based chalks are not safe for your scrapbooks. They have toxic ingredients that can erode your paper and/or photos, but you can purchase archival-safe chalks that are made for scrapbooking.
Your best options are achivally safe markers, chalks and inks.
Wedding pictures are important images to preserve for future reference and generations to come. Creating a distinctive wedding album is essential. Focus your theme around your thoughts and the activities at your wedding. Be sure to record your feelings and the thoughts you had during your ceremony and the reception. There are no magical tricks for preserving your old clippings or removing them from an old album, but you may want to try some adhesive remover for the glue. You will have to be extremely careful not to ruin the newspaper, but if you apply it from the back of the page you it may help a little.
You can buy sprays like "Archival Mist" that is formulated to preserve newspaper and neutralize the acid contained in the paper.
Most craft stores and/or scrapbook supply store carry adhesive remover and archival sprays.
